Mystery Lake Map The Long Dark: A Balance Between Wilderness and Man-Made Shelters

As described in "Mystery Lake & Area" from Episode 2, the region of Mystery Lake is an alpine valley, averaging 1,200 meters above sea level, centered around its namesake lake. The lake itself is surrounded by forested hills, and there is much passive wildlife in the area. While there are wolves and bears, they are much less common here than in other regions. Temperatures are not as mild here as they are in Coastal Highway, however, they are by no means as cold as around Timberwolf Mountain or Ash Canyon. The region offers plenty of shelter, with cabins and trailers scattered throughout the forested hills, as well as Ice Fishing and lots of foraging. Beyond the lake and hills, mountains surround the region on the west and south sides, while the foothills of the Inner Island Range can be seen on the region's north and east, forming a barrier through which players cannot travel. The Trans-Island Railway Line cuts through the region, entering the region from Forlorn Muskeg via the Rail Tunnel. Along the way, it passes by Camp Office, the Derailment, the Train Loading Area, and Carter Hydro Dam. Just past Carter, the tracks enter The Ravine, and eventually lead to Coastal Highway. These tracks can be extremely useful in inclement weather, as they enable players to travel around without getting lost.Overall, Mystery Lake is generally considered one of, if not the easiest region to survive in, though some argue that Coastal Highway is even easier, despite its higher predator density. Mystery Lake is also in the centre of Great Bear Island in-game, and well-prepared players will be able to reach most other in-game regions within a day's travel, though travelling to some regions, such as Blackrock, may make for a long day's travel.

The lone lake cabin is located along the eastern shore of Mystery Lake. Some supplies can be found inside the cabin which also provides good protection from the elements. Occasionally, a hunting rifle and a Frozen Corpse can be found behind it. A possible bear spawn is near here and a bear cave.

Mystery Lake Map The Long Dark

The map has a hilly terrain, and a few primary walkways allow navigation between destinations. The river provides the most direct path between Carter Hydro Dam and Mystery Lake along the eastern parts of the map. The Camp Office, one of the more hospitable structures in the region, is found on the west entrance to the lake, and fishing huts and cabins are scattered across the lake and its perimeter. Wolves are plentiful on and around the lake.

The long dark Mystery lake map connects, indeed, with Forlorn Muskeg, Milton, Coastal Highway, and pleasant valley; staying in somewhat center of these locations, even though it is actually in the west.

In the Long dark, you will need the long dark Bleak Inlet map. The reason is that Bleak Inlet is also one of the latest regions in The Long Dark. In addition to that, there are several reasons apart from lack of indoor locations just like Forlorn Muskeg, for which you might find it thrilling. Bleak Inlet perhaps is most dangerous.

While playing in the long dark, you may accidentally or may intentionally visit the broken Railroad. The broken railroad is a small zone, as the long dark Broken railroad map suggests, that exists almost entirely near a set of railroad tracks that run through it.

The Ravine is one of the favorite transition zones of long dark players. If you climb into the ravine. You may find a Distress Pistol there. Furthermore, the zone is good for a few rabbits and likely a deer.

Coastal Highway is connected to Crumbling Highway (to Desolation Point) along with Pleasant Valley and Ravine (to Mystery Lake). You can observe it by looking at the long dark Coastal Highway map, as well.

It is relatively easy to avoid predators here and it tends to have chances of amazing and decent loot. Although, we would like to mention that for an inexplicable reason, the long dark desolation point is something not much considerable or worth visiting.

I have seen maybe one or two in my entire time, but from what I recall on pilgrim mode one is guaranteed to spawn in mystery lake. They have a kinda set location meaning that there are something like 5-6 places it could spawn but which one is random. For any additional info you would probably have to look up a map as I don't know any more than this.

Whenever I'd go and search 'mystery lake map' I'd get an outdated one from 2017, without the destroyed lookout and proper scaling. I pretty much know how to get around mystery lake from the camp office to almost anywhere now. But it's also in regions like coastal highway witch I have less experiance in. Anybody know where I can find these 2020 maps?

They took places beside the house, at a point where they could commanda good view of the road and driveway. How long it would be before thethief would show up, if at all, they had not the slightest idea. Theyhoped, however, it would not be long, for darkness was not far off.

Darkness had overtaken them, a darkness that was filled with mystery. From afar came some terrifying scream, uttered perhaps by a wildanimal in its death struggle. Soon there came another that was evenmore blood curdling.

The sun was just above the western sky-line, and the evening was a particularly bright and clear one, so that the whole extent of the plateau was visible beneath me. It was, as seen from this height, of an oval contour, with a breadth of about thirty miles and a width of twenty. Its general shape was that of a shallow funnel, all the sides sloping down to a considerable lake in the centre. This lake may have been ten miles in circumference, and lay very green and beautiful in the evening light, with a thick fringe of reeds at its edges, and with its surface broken by several yellow sandbanks, which gleamed golden in the mellow sunshine. A number of long dark objects, which were too large for alligators and too long for canoes, lay upon the edges of these patches of sand. With my glass I could clearly see that they were alive, but what their nature might be I could not imagine.

From the side of the plateau on which we were, slopes of woodland, with occasional glades, stretched down for five or six miles to the central lake. I could see at my very feet the glade of the iguanodons, and farther off was a round opening in the trees which marked the swamp of the pterodactyls. On the side facing me, however, the plateau presented a very different aspect. There the basalt cliffs of the outside were reproduced upon the inside, forming an escarpment about two hundred feet high, with a woody slope beneath it. Along the base of these red cliffs, some distance above the ground, I could see a number of dark holes through the glass, which I conjectured to be the mouths of caves. At the opening of one of these something white was shimmering, but I was unable to make out what it was. I sat charting the country until the sun had set and it was so dark that I could no longer distinguish details. Then I climbed down to my companions waiting for me so eagerly at the bottom of the great tree. For once I was the hero of the expedition. Alone I had thought of it, and alone I had done it; and here was the chart which would save us a month's blind groping among unknown dangers. Each of them shook me solemnly by the hand. 2ff7e9595c
